The Gigi collection was born from a unique collaboration between the Montreal hand-blown glass studio Verre d’Onge by Jérémie St-Onge and studio darmes. This project is the alliance of two masteries, that of glass and light, embodying the perfect fusion of artisanal craftsmanship and luminous innovation. It was the desire of Jérémie and Alex Joncas, designer and co-founder of darmes, to explore and rethink the classic glass lamp. Stemming from a creative process focused on exploring materiality and the sensory experience of the Gigi lamp’s presence in a space, the result is a lamp that pushes the boundaries of glass.
The Gigi reveals itself, gradually unfolding to offer a singular visual experience. To the rhythm of the glassblower, its colors unfold within the material in unique shades and nuances. Gigi offers high-quality, bidirectional lighting that dims to warmer hues. Whether it is the Gigi table or Gigi grande, it infuses every space with a mysterious ambiance that attracts the eye, like a beacon of glass and light in the middle of a room.
The Gigi collection was first presented at Future Habit(at) 2021 with Archiproducts during Milan Design Week and won a 2021 Archiproducts design award, in lighting category.
