The Cé collection reimagines the use of fringes in lighting, offering a fresh take on a classic concept. Inspired by the mythical figure of Cecrops, the legendary founder and first king of Athens, often depicted as half-human, half-serpent. This collection incorporates elements that evoke this duality. The fringes recall the fluid movement of a serpent, while the central disk reflects light and our faces, creating a symbolic link to our origins.
By filtering light, the fringes create a soft, muted ambiance, ideal for refined spaces like boudoirs and hotels. The Cé collection boldly blends fringes and solid bronze, revealing a beautifully rounded wall light. The unique movement of the fringes provides a fluid look, distinct from previous collections, while staying true to the minimalist, clean lines characteristic of every darmes light fixture.
Alexandre Joncas, designer and co-founder of darmes, describes the inspiration behind Cé: “The inspiration comes from Cecrops, who according to Greek mythology was the first indigenous person, the founder of Athens.”
The Cé collection was first presented at Fuorisalone 2018 with Archiproducts in Milan.
Cé is available in various configurations to suit your space: Wall, Petite Short, or Petite Long.
The light fixtures are assembled in the darmes’ workshop in Canada, using recyclable steel and aluminum, in partnership with local suppliers. These collections are shipped worldwide with carbon offsetting measures in place.
