The name Hyphen, derived from the ancient Greek huph‘ hén (ὑφ’ ἕν), means the union of two opposites into one. It embodies the meeting between soft, warm, organic porcelain and cold, robust, luminous steel.

The Hyphen collection by Darmes is an exploration of union and balance, where two suspended cylindrical bodies intertwine in a fluid, silent movement. Linked by a central pivot, they offer a variety of positions and orientations, projecting a soft, directional light that evolves with the space.

More than just a luminaire, Hyphen is a sculpture in light, a dialogue between matter and light. In keeping with the Darmes philosophy of collaboration and excellence in craftsmanship, the collection benefits from the expertise of ceramic artist Gréta Jonckheere. Each porcelain piece is shaped by hand in Morin-Heights, Quebec. This meticulous process, carried out in several stages over several days, gives each piece a unique texture that captures the essence of touch and time.

The materials and finishes have been carefully selected to interact with light and reveal delicate chromatic variations, even when the object is switched off. Hyphen transcends its function as a light : it evokes a sense of connection and serenity, enveloping its surroundings in a luminous embrace that is both poetic and intimate.

We advise you to choose our transport service (usually UPS). In this case, shipping charges will be added to your invoice and the applicable delivery terms (Incoterms) are DAP. We take care of packing, transport, insurance and customs clearance to the delivery address indicated on the invoice.

Depending on the country of delivery, customs duties, sales tax and collection charges may be requested by the carrier at the time of delivery. On request we can provide you with an indicative estimate of these costs. Contact us if you wish to be assured of having nothing to pay at the time of delivery (Incoterms: DDP).

In the event that you are unable to accept your order and/or fail to respond to UPS’s requests, the cost of returning your shipment and re-dispatch will be at your expense.

In the event that the customer comes to pick up their order themselves or has their order picked up by the carrier of their choice, the applicable delivery terms (Incoterms) are EXW. In this case we only take responsibility for the packaging of the order. The merchandise is no longer under our responsibility once it has left our premises. You must assume the transportation, insurance and clearance of the goods.
